Mr Katz succinctly sums up just why our cities have become such monotonous, scaleless, characterless, sprawling collections of buildings and roads. (Notice I did not use choose to degrade the word "place"). We need to "see" what we are doing before we do it. This is the conversation I frequently have with my building clients. It is a lot cheaper to draw it first and change it than to build it first and change it.
